Print This PostDr. P. asks:
A couple of small European implant companies have started marketing Titanium dental implant fixtures with Surgical Steel abutments in South East Asia. Will this type of two-piece implant set up a galvanic cell? Does this explain the unexpected failures that are sometimes seen in these implants? Will this combination of Titanium and Stainless Steel lead to mechanical failures? More importantly do these implants pass the FDA and EEC criteria for implants?
