Details
This multi-topic course will include the following presentations:
Diabetes and Periodontitis: Two-Way Association and the Implications for Dental Practice
This presentation will focus on important aspects of the disease and its bi-directional association with periodontitis. The clinical managment of the periodontal patient with diabetes, including prevention and treatment of possible in-office medical emergencies will be discussed.
Pediatric Pearls: Update for the General Practitioner:
This course is designed to enhance the general practitioner's understanding of pediatric dentistry. Major clinical and knowledge base areas of early intervention will be discussed: cariology trends, saliva's protective role, chemotherapeutic agents, promoting enamel remineralization and preventing enamel demineralization, sealants, fluorides, xylitol and other sugar substitutes, and easy to use chair side diagnostic tools. Further, indications for tooth colored dental materials including resin-modified glass ionomer cements, compomers, and composites will be reviewed. This "first" visit is a great opportunity to detect caries early, effectively educate caregivers about good oral hygiene and healthy feeding practices, maximize the benefits of systemic and topical fluoride exposure, establish a "dental home" within your office, and provide a service recommended by both the American Dental Association and pediatricians.
Contemporary Imaging:
An update on the diagnostic imaging technologies currently used in dentistry will be provided, such as digital imaging and 3D imaging. You will learn how contemporary imaging modalities can increase diagnostic efficiency and significantly improve patient care. The basic principles and applications of digital radiography, cone-beam computed tomography and image acquistion will be explained.
Esthetic Pluralism- Taking your Esthetic Practice to the Next Level:
This presentation will demonstrate the use of porcelain laminate veneers in more advanced and complicated restorative cases involving insufficient space, collapsed bites, and orthodontically compromised dentitions. Participants will become familiar with veneer prep design, impression techniques, temporization, veneer insertion and treatment planning complex patients.
