Pericardium is a biological three-layered membrane, which encases and protects the heart and can be used in surgeries when Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) procedures are needed.
Pericardium is a biological three-layered membrane routinely used in medical procedures such as dura replacement in cranial surgery, glaucoma implant surgery and tracheal reconstruction. Pericardium is a natural barrier membrane and will naturally occlude cells.
Pericardium’s cell occlussiveness allows the underlying defect space and osseous graft to be predictably isolated preventing soft tissue ingrowth while allowing nutrient passage to occur during healing. Pericardium may be used in Dental procedures where resorbable barrier membranes are currently used.
Pericardium is supplied freeze-dried and is available in individual packages, which can be stored at room temperature. Its ease of handling allows flexibility and adaptability to the surgical site. It is both biocompatible and bioresorble, with no post operative removal required.
