What?

*Implant Surgery – Everything You Need to Know to Succeed
Hieu D. Pham, DDS, MD
This lecture will focus on topics that will help general dentist and auxiliaries achieve success with implant procedures. It will cover implant surgery for the general dentist, socket grafting, implant considerations for patients who have taken bisphosphonates, autogenous bone grafting for alveolar reconstruction for implant placement, and an update on antibiotic coverage for implant surgery. Using case presentations and video clips of actual surgeries, you will learn implant site preparation, treatment plans for patients on bisphoshonates, factors that maximize bone graft success, and how to avoid problems in implant placement.

*A New Standard of Care in Dentistry: 3-Dimensional Imaging – Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
Gurminder Sidhu, BDS, DDS, MS, Dip ABOMR
The field of 3-dimensional imaging is rapidly developing into a new standard of care in dentistry. Diagnosis, treatment simulation, treatment planning and treatment outcomes are greatly improved with the advent of Cone Beam CT (3-D technology) imaging. This program will give you a general overview of the 3-D imaging process, Cone Beam CT, including when to refer patients for advanced imaging, what type of image to request, systematic evaluation of CT volumes, how to decipher what the radiologist is saying and a review of the legal/liabilities of this new technology.

*Office Oral Surgery and Medical Emergencies
James A. Garibaldi, DDS, MA
The first portion of this program is designed to make the practicing dentist comfortable with office oral surgery. You will learn how to prevent and treat complications, when to refer, and how to feel confident with flap design and surgical extractions. Third molar impactions including reasons to remove, surgical treatment approaches, avoiding lingual and inferior alveolar nerve injury will be reviewed. Pre-prosthetic surgical procedures such as frenectomies, alveoplasty, secondary epithelization, tori removal, frenum removal, tuberosity reduction and papillary hyperplasia will also be discussed.

In the medical emergencies portion of the program, you will learn how to diagnose and treat medical emergencies commonly encountered in the dental office. An appropriate, useful emergency kit will be reviewed. A discussion on what you and your staff need to do will be presented with emphasis placed on how to prevent some of these emergencies.
