The surgical foundation of the world-renowned Misch International Implant Institute (MIII) is designed as 5, 3 day sessions. Each session concentrates on a different aspect of implant education, a specific region of the mouth and a specific type of implant prosthesis.
Session I: Patient Evaluation & Treatment Planning

Session One’s major objective is treatment planning, for the partially edentulous patient. Prosthetic options, patient force factors, bone density, implant positions, implant number of abutments, ideal implant size in each tooth location, and bone volume related treatment options are presented in detail. The surgical procedure and prosthesis type presented in the first session is the replacement of a single posterior missing tooth. CT and radiographic interpretation workshops and hands on suturing techniques and implant insertion in the treatment models are also provided.
Session II: Root Form Surgery Division A Bone

Surgical Session II advances the clinician's skill level and knowledge of root forms and addresses methods to treat various bone densities. The focus of this session will include surgery, uncovery and short and long term complications for root forms. The second surgical session of the Misch International Implant Institute™ addresses partial and completely edentulous mandibular overdentures and fixed prostheses for multiple adjacent missing teteth in the posterior mandible. Altered surgical approaches, dependent upon bone density are presented in detail. The bone volume classification covered at his session is Misch-Judy Division A and B. Complications presented include: excessive bleeding during surgery, nerve paresthesia and bone loss during initial healing. Hands-on labs will give clinicians the chance to apply in a controlled environment techniques learned at the session.
Session III: Membrane Grafting Division B Bone

The third session of is primarily concerned with two implant issues: Maxillary anterior single tooth implants and barrier membrane particulate bone grafts. The volume of bone and related procedures covered in the session is Division B bone augmentation, developed by Misch. Atraumatic extractions and socket grafting is also presented. Indications for extraction and immediate implant insertion, esthetic complication of implant position and angulation are also covered in detail.
Session IV: Sinus Grafts

The fourth surgical course is dedicated to treatment of the posterior maxilla. Sinus lifts and sinus grafting is presented in detail. The unique aspects of the program include maxillary sinus pathology and pharmacology. Complications of this region are also covered. The hands-on laboratory sessions are preformed on unique models developed specifically for the MIII for both sinus lifts and grafts.
Session V: Immediate Load & Division C Mandibular Bone

The fifth surgical session presents concepts for the step by step procedures for immediate loading, immediate restorations and progressive bone loading. Four treatment categories are presented: Single tooth implants, multiple adjacent missing teeth, full arch fixed prosthesis and complete overdenture prostheses. Indications, Contraindicetions and unique complications are presented for each of the four immediate load/restoration procedures. In addition, the c-h moderate bone volume Patient will be. addressed related to unique surgical procedures and treatment planning.
