A fixed prosthesis is the best treatment option for the edentulous patient and those facing the immanent loss of their remaining dentition. Through innovation, along with continuous clinical and scientific research, it has become possible to treat virtually every edentulous case with a highly functional and esthetic fixed solution, increasing the quality of life for these patients. The MALO CLINIC protocol for totally edentulous rehabilitation has allowed thousands of clinicians around the world to achieve this essential goal for their patients.

The oral rehabilitation of these patients has two stages surgical and prosthetic. The surgical protocol follows the  All-on-4TM Concept - an innovative technique developed in the early 90’s at MALO CLINIC that allows for immediate function, full-arch, implant supported prosthetics. This widely applicable surgical protocol allows for a simple and immediate rehabilitation with a provisional bridge fixed on 4 implants, with minimum cantilevers, immediately following the surgery.

By taking advantage of the dense bone available in the anterior maxilla and between the mandibular foramina, this technique allows for the treatment of a significantly greater number of patients, while avoiding the need for complex, time consuming and often debilitating bone grafting procedures. For the severely atrophic maxilla, this technique is complemented with extra-maxillary (zygoma) anchored implants when necessary.

Diagnosis and treatment planning are critical components to ensure the successful outcome of each case. After the initial evaluation, the precise bone volume must be assessed utilizing a CT scan. Furthermore, a thorough clinical examination is needed to evaluate the smile line and lip support. These two parameters will determine if bone reduction is necessary before implant placement.

The MALO CLINIC surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation protocols for the totally edentulous have proven to be highly successful, with 99.8% success rate for the All-on-4TM in the mandible and a 98% success rate for the   All-on-4TM maxillary techniques. The final prosthesis- the MALO CLINIC Bridge- has nearly a 100% fracture-free history and presents as one of today’s highest esthetic alternatives that is also both hygienic and easy to maintain. By adhering to these protocols, one can offer more patients a fixed, implant supported solution that is highly successful, while minimizing the risks and the need for multiple procedures that are often necessary with other implant techniques used for full-arch implant reconstruction.
