Detailed Course Description for Advanced Implant Therapy: Complete 12 Lecture DVD Certificate Program:

Presenter (s): Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

CE Credits: 24

This 12 lecture DVD series on dental implants, presented by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic, will prepare the intermediate to advanced clinician to manage implant cases with ridge, sinus and soft tissue reconstruction and to improve aesthetic case outcomes through delicate tissue management, precise 3-dimensional implant position and a predictable restorative result with natural beauty and gingival harmony.

Certification Program:
This course is a 24 hour CE certification course completed with an examination and a Global Institute certificate of completion.

Topics Include:

  • Lecture 1: Biological Elements in Achieving Natural Implant Aesthetics by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This lecture presents the biological tissue responses of soft and hard tissues and the effect it has on ideal implant placement and creating esthetic implant restorations.
  • Lecture 2: Clinical Elements In Achieving Natural Implant Aesthetics by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This 88 minute lecture will present the clinical management of soft and hard tissues and how to support the ideal 3-D placed implant.
  • Lecture 3: Horizontal Bone Augmentation using bone grafts and Resorbable Membranes by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This 95 minute lecture will present the current treatment results, and step for step techniques with bone grafting using resorbable membranes.
  • Lecture 4: Horizontal Bone Augmentation using bone grafts and non-resorbable Membranes by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This 95 minute lecture will focus on the moderate to large jaw bone deficiency in which the bone regeneration technique becomes vital to the survival of the implant.
  • Lecture 5: Extraction Site Bone Grafts and Immediate vs. Delayed Implant Placement by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This 80 minute lecture will highlight the different treatment options for extraction sockets with implants.
  • Lecture 6: Immediate Tooth Replacement Using a Flapless Approach by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

Tissue preservation is the main focus of this presentation. This 80 minute lecture will discuss in detail the indication and steps for immediate tooth replacement of a healed and a fresh extraction socket.
  • Lecture 7: Vertical Ridge Augmentation Using GBR Procedures by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This lecture presents evidence from the literature supporting the use of particulated bone grafts and titanium reinforced Gore-Tex membranes for predictable vertical and horizontal ridge augmentation.
  • Lecture 8: Vertical Ridge Augmentation Using Alveolar Distraction Osteogenesis (DO) by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This lecture presents the Distraction Osteogenesis (DO) technique and its limitations. While evidence for DO is moderate to strong, case selection, as always, is very important.
  • Lecture 9: Sinus augmentation using the osteotome and lateral window technique with implant placement by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

The first lecture in a series of sinus augmentation will describe the evidence in the literature, the clinical techniques and when a simplified approach like the osteotome technique is applicable.
  • Lecture 10: Sinus Augmentation Using the Lateral Window Technique in Complex Cases with Subsequent Implant Placement by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

The second lecture will emphasize the largely pneumatized with little crestal bone, the sinus with hypertrophic epithelium, the need for advanced diagnostic tools and the bone graft of choice for the advanced case.
  • Lecture 11: Soft Tissue Management and Grafting around Dental Implants - Esthetic and Mucogingival solutions by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This lecture will present the different techniques to enhance the aesthetic emergence profile of the implant site and the health of the peri-implant tissues.
  • Lecture 12: Implant Complications: Prevention, diagnosis and treatment by Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic

This course will focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of problems with dental implants in the anterior and posterior jaw region. The indications and solutions for re-treatment of failing, failed or malpositioned implants will be discussed.

Educational Objectives:
Upon the completion of this 12 lecture series, participants should be able to

a) understand the five clinical and biological elements for achieving natural implant esthetics
b) be able to diagnose what clinical procedure is needed to develop an esthetic implant site
c) be able to select the appropriate implant type and abutment material to support the peri-implant tissues
d) understand the benefits and potential pitfalls of immediate tooth replacement
e) describe the biologic rationale and clinical steps influencing the clinical outcome of immediate loading.
f) understand soft tissue behavior around implants and when to graft soft tissues
g) select the appropriate horizontal and vertical bone regeneration procedures
h) be able to diagnose and treat accordingly an implant complication.
