Dental and periodontal loss of structures is associated with multiple challenges in proper implant treatment planning. Temporization and site development procedures are a major difficulty for such patients. A detailed evaluation and comprehensive treatment plan should always precede any irreversible act such as an extraction. Interplay between the specialties is the hallmark of success in any multidisciplinary treatment plan. This presentation illustrates how to maximize patient comfort and satisfaction while progressing through complex dental treatments.

Dr. Alexandre-Amir Aalam

University of Southern California

Dr. Aalam graduated with a DDS degree from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice (France). He, subsequently, specialized in Advanced Periodontics at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles (USA). Dr. Aalam is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology. The French Society and the Californian Society of Periodontology awarded Dr. Aalam for his contribution to clinical research in the field of implant dentistry. Dr. Aalam is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the USC School of Dentistry in the department of Advanced Periodontics. He is also a faculty member of the Taiwanese Academy of Reconstructive Dentistry. Dr. Aalam lectures and publishes in the field of dental implant and site development procedures.


Dr. Mamaly Reshad
University of Southern California

Dr. Reshad is the Co-Chair for fixed and Operative Dentistry at USC School of Dentistry. He is the co-director of the pre-clinical fixed Prosthodontics programs. He is also the course director for Dental materials for the advanced programs.

Dr. Reshad received his training in Prosthodontist from the USC School of Dentistry. He completed his Master’s in Conservative Dentistry with Distinction at the Eastman Dental Institute, London University.
He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals on a wide range of topics in Prosthodontics. His area of research expertise is in dental materials. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics at the USC oral health center.
