Identify Implant in Patient from Korea?

Dr. H. asks:
I have a new female patient from Korea. She had an implant placed in Korea in the #14 site [maxillary left first molar; 26] 2.5 years prior. The implant is well integrated and there is no mobility, purulence or inflammation. I have to restore the implant and cannot identify its source. Can someone please help me to identify this implant so I can know what components to order?

Try this site to help identify implants radiographically. whatimplantisthat.com They previous responder mentioned Osstem, which was not one of the implants listed on this site. Good luck.

Looks to me an external exagon 4mm diameter standard platform like Nobel or 3i Biomet. Of course Ostemm US. But you could use any abutment standar platform. Bye Luca

I don't remember if it was Noble Biocare or Gldewell that has a dptmt that finds it out and then order a custom component for it,

I refer these to Attachments International. The contact there is (or used to be) Darwin. They have most prosthetic components in inventory and have always been abe to help me. Dr. Cole: I share your concern with the top threads and apparent sinus perforation. With stability, healthy gingiva, and symptoms at two years, if this implant were in me, I would have it restored. A clear plain english conversation and informed consent (and documentation of those) are indicated prior to proceeding. I may also use a screw retained crown to allow removal to facilitate grafting if the bone level changes in the future.

The best thing is to ask the patient to get in touch with the dentist in Korea to obtain the record for the implant placed. I am sure the patient still renumber who put in the implant for her. It is only 2 and a half year rather than guessing and get the wrong parts to restore. The implant has some threads exposure, better inform the patient that it may fail after loading the implant.

Dear Dr. H, I would say it´s a 4mm internal conection standar platform. I don´t think that knowing the brand will help you that much. I´ll recomend you to try any abutment with internal conection and in worst case scenario you will be doing your own non planified platform switching. Hope to have helped you and looking forward to see the result of your work.

Dear Dr. H Thanks for sharing. I think it´s a 4mm internal conection standar platform implant. I think that knowing the brand won´t help you that much. Using any standar abutment will serve you well. Wost case scenario you´ll be doing a non planified platforme switching! Hope to see the result of your case! Greetings

Why not remove cover screw and see what connection is there.External or internal? Also it may not be impossible to contact the dentist that placed it. At of curiosity do let us know if you figure it out. As far as depth of placement if its stable no pain and no suppuration or sign of infection , restore it.

LOOK LIKE EXTERNAL REMOVE INTERNAL SCREW AND SEE SIZE IF EXTERNAL 4.0MM IT IS MOST LIKELY FIT WITH COMMON EXTERNAL IMPLANT TRY HELING CAP AND TAKE X-RAY IF IT FIT USE SAME BRAND IMPERSSION COPING TO TAKE IMPRESSIONBE CAREFUL SOME IMPLANT HAS EXTERNAL PORTION HIGHER THAN AVERAGE, IF YOU CAN DO THIS LAST OF PROCEDURE WILL BE EASIER

It seems to be an internal hex, probably 4mm .Since so many components are interchangable I would remove cover screw and place transfer compatible to 4mm. implants. If the radiographic picture shows a good fit ,and you feel that the screw is also compatible (don"t force it, as you can damage the threads)you can order the appropriate components(e.g. M.I.S.)Alternatively try and mail his dentist in Korea. Best of luck!
