Hybrid Denture Problem: Food Particles Get Trapped?

I recently had my upper permanent hybrid dentures attached. I am having a problem not associated with stability- rather the space between the denture and gum line. Whenever I eat, small food particles get trapped in the area described. Also food collects around the same area outer area as I chew. Can a hybrid denture be fitted tightly against the gum line? Can the denture be “modeled” to eliminate food collecting around denture/gum line?

The denture can be made to adapt better to your gums and reduce the amount of food that accumulates but you cannot eliminate it. Just like food traps between your teeth sometimes, you will always get some food particles to accumulate around a denture, bridge, hybrid, etc... You need to clean around the denture after every meal. If you think that the amount of food that accumulates is excessive, talk to your dentist about it. Good luck! Dr. Carlos Boudet
