In addition to the seven obligatory modules, students will also submit a Master’s thesis. Each student is able to access teaching material and recorded lessons via our eLearning platfom in order to monitor and support independent study during the preparation/processing phase of material for/from seminars and teaching units that take place at the University campus, as well as independent study carried out during the placement and supervision modules. Furthermore, all case documentation can be uploaded to the University server so that this can be assessed in order to ensure the quality of each student’s practical skills.

The MOI ( Master of Science in Oral Implantology (MOI) here at the Goethe University) is designed for fully-employed dentists whose primary interest is in receiving advanced academic training in the field of oral implantology. After successful completion of the program, you will receive the academic title of “Master of Science (MSc.) in Oral Implantology”. You will be able to independently plan and implement therapy concepts for the treatment of patients requiring dental implant prosthetics. In addition, you will also have the skills required to select, analyse and fully integrate into your own practice a full range of treatments and knowledge in this field of dental implantology.

The field of oral implantology is based in part on extremely complex interdisciplinary treatment methodologies, which require a strong correlation and coordination of various areas of specialisation. For this reason the course aims to prioritise a highly rational and analytical method of thinking that will enable the optimal examination and harmonisation of the individual patient diagnosis, the selected treatment method and its results.

The course is a two-year modular part-time, graduate course of study at the J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, which is structured and taught completely independently of extra-University institutions and companies with regard to both content and finance. The accreditation of the course was granted on August, 31st 2009.

The 2-year modular graduate degree program takes your time constraints and job responsibilities into consideration. You have to travel four times to Frankfurt during your course of studies. Each stay lasting between 7 and 10 days: you’ll have lessons and hands-on courses and thus grow through input from our international faculty, guest lectures and fellow students. In between the 4 residential periods, you’ll be treating patients in your own surgery, documenting and discussing the cases with our team at your own pace.

After successful completion of the program, graduates will receive the academic title of “Master of Science (MSc.) in Oral Implantology”. The graduates will be able to independently plan and implement therapy concepts for the treatment of patients requiring dental implant prosthetics. In addition, graduates will also have the skills required to select, analyse and fully integrate into their own practice a full range of treatments and knowledge in this field of dental implantology.

      1. Dear Dr. Shweta,

Thank you for your interest in our Master of Oral Implantology Program.
The Master’s program was introduced at the J.W. Goethe University in 2009, in order to offer advanced academic training in the field of oral Implantology. Our student body consists of international students coming from over 30 countries.
The MOI program is designed for the general dentist who has already taken the first step towards the field of implantology. The prospective student has already placed implants and now wants to increase their skills and build up a solid, scientific foundation in order to provide safe, appropriate and efficient treatments.
The program aims to provide comprehensive and highly specialised theoretical knowledge and to develop excellent practical skills. The program also provides you with the opportunity to improve your interdisplinary and comprehensive skills in designing and applying the best treatment. After successful completion of the program, the graduates will receive the academic title of “Master of Science (MSc.) in Oral Implantology”. An in-depth description of the MOI program can be found on our website: https://www.moi.uni-frankfurt.de/program.html

Over the period of 2 years/4 semesters you’ll be travelling 4 times to the Goethe-University, each time for approximately 10-11 days. During each visit you’ll have face-to-face seminars, lectures as well as hands-on trainings scheduled throughout the day. The day generally begins at 8am and ends around 5pm.
The program is tailored to meet the needs of practising dentists and is based on the principle of blended learning and work based learning. During the course of your studies you’ll attend live treatments in Frankfurt and will be supervised on your own clinical cases in your home country. You’re encouraged to document, share and discuss your own experiences with your fellow students. A multidisciplinary and international team of experts will be available to mentor you at any time.

The tuition fee is currently EUR 29,500 for the entire two-year program. Travel expenses, hotel accomodation and learning materials are not included in the tuition fee. The fee will be payable in two equal instalments of EUR 14,750. The first instalment is due upon enrolment and the second payment is due after one year.

        Admission requirements:
You need to hold a license and academic qualification entitling you to work as a dentist. Further a minimum of 2 years relevant professional work experience and excellent English skills (e.g. TOEFL) are required in order to be considered for the program.
You’ll find the list with all the required documents on our website: https://www.moi.uni-frankfurt.de/admission.html.

        Best regards,
        Corinna

  1. Hi, Does one need to travel for each module or do we get a visa to stay on for the completion of the course. Kindly guide us regarding this will be very helpful.

  2. I have done a master’s program from Muenster. Just completed in Oct 2011. Would like to know if you offer a master’s program in any other field of Dentistry and/or Ph D program in either implantology or biomaterials, biotechnology, tissue engineering in Dentistry. The most important thing is it must be modular program like master’s program in Implantology.

    1. Ilike to ask about the master in Muenster the clinical cases can I doit in Egypt instead of jordan and Iwant to ask about the cost

  3. [email protected] says:

    I´m on the third module of the master of oral implantology (MOI) program and will try to answere Your questions;
    1) The MOI consists of 4 modules. 1 / semester and they last 7 days each.
Therefore You don´t have to stay in Germany more than a week / module.
    2) Additional obligatory visits to Frankfurt include: 3 days of “over the sholder” and might also include planning of the masterthesis and the final presentation of the masterthesis.
    2) The 20 clinical cases are done in Your home country.

I can really recommend MOI for everyone placing implants.

    All the best // Erik

        1. Dear Dr. Vijay Kumar,
          thanks for your message.
According to the Master thesis you should know that you are free to focus on any topic and study format you like. We are highly interested in prospective studies which should be published finally. Our program is educating practical skills and scientific skills. You are free to combine your Master thesis topic concerning your practical patient treatment.

If you like more information please contact me: [email protected]

          Best regards,

          Richard Klein

          1. thanks for early response.
i am willing to join in the next batch. pl let me know the procedure and date.
can i know the topics already published in master thesis.
            thanks
            best regards
            dr vijay kumar

  4. Its a well structured scientific and practical program .but i think its rather expensive since it requires 4 times to travel to Germany in 2 years period and that’s costly and time consuming specially in Visa issue matter.

    1. Dear Dr. Saad Yasin Nori,

getting a visa is no big trouble with an invitation letter from Goethe University. The tuition fee includes tutoring and supervision of 20 patient treatment cases and supervision of your Master Thesis. The tuition fee itself is in the range of tuition fees of comparable M.Sc. Programms. But the advantage here is: you can keep on running your practice, you go on earning money while you study.

Do not hesitate to contact me: [email protected]

      Yours sincerely, T. S.

  5. Dear Sir,/Madam,

Can you please send me more information about the program? (curriculum and cost).
I need mostly the surgical aspect since I am a prosthodontist and I have vast experience in restoring implants. Is available a solely surgical course? Witch implant is been used?
Are implants been placed by the student under supervision and how many?

    Thank you

  6. Would love to join. Is it possible to pay tuition fees monthly if not legible for a grant? Sounds like a brilliant program, but the fees are extraordinary. One also has to consider all the time off work to study/prepare assignments/dissertation, attend the course, in addition to all the travelling and accomodation and the implant equipment investment itself thereafter.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    1. Sorry. Currently we aren’t accepting paying tuition fees on a monthly base. Your concerns regarding the necessary time off to study and prepare are right. But we took into consideration exactly this: You only need to travel to Frankfurt for four times, each stay been around 8-10 days. During the times in between the stays, you’re quite flexible regarding the work needed to be done. So this shouldn’t stop you from continuing to working during your study time.
      Best regards,
      Kristian

    1. Hi, so far don’t offer courses specificly concerning the surgical phase. As part of our master program we do have hands-on parts dealing with advanced surgical techniques such as sinus lift and bone graft.
      Warm regards,

  12. Please excuse my informal approach – I am mature student 6 months away from completing an accredited 5 year full-time European degree in dentistry / dental surgery. I already hold a Bachelor´s and Master of Science higher degree in Occupational Safety & Health and an MSc in (CAD/CAM) but very interested in compeleting the Master´s degree in Oral Implantology at J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Deutschland. Having previously lived and worked for Siemens in Germany I am well accustomed to German life and customs.

My question is – is it possible to to complete the programme in I year full-time?

I look forward to receiving further info, thank you in advance.

    Best regards, Martin.

  13. i was trying to apply for the programm as i got all the informations and requirements but its listed that financial funding can be supported by DAAD scholarships…and when i searched in DAAd websites it doesnt support mediacl and dentistry branches !!!!!….so could you please help regarding what is the name of scholarship from DAAD support the master of oral implantology for goethe dental school ?!!!

    1. Hello Mahmoud Ahmed,

scholarships in Germany are mostly only provided through the DAAD. It depends on your country and circumstances, if you’re eligible for a scholarship. As programs and scholarships change quite frequently, we can’t keep track on all different possibilities offered by the DAAD. You’re right, presently the DAAD has got no direct program support 2nd level of education in dentistry. Allthough, depending on your country of origin, there might be other possibilities in other supporting programs.
The Goethe University itself doesn’t offer any scholarships, as the first stage education in Germany is generally free.
Please ge tin contact with us directly, so we can sort out possible opportunities for you.
      Best regards,
      Kristian – MOI Team

  14. Does the tuition fee also include the cost if the implants and restorations?if not should it be paid by the students or the patients?

    1. Hello Nadeem,
the tuition fee doesn’t include any costs for implants and restorations. During the program you’ll have Hands-On lectures. For these all the materials are provides. You don’t treat any patients during the program in Germany on site. You’ll have to treat your own patients, so they’ll also have to pay for their treatment.

      Best regards,
      Kristian

I am a NZ qualified dentist. I am aware that my qualification does not allow me to work within the european union without first completing an examination i.e. the international qualifying examination in the UK.
