Shirley, an implant patient from Louisiana, asks:

Not sure if this is farfetched, but I will be taking an international flight in several weeks. I have 4 dental implants. Will these set off the security alarm when I walk through the metal scanner? Should I bring radiographs to show the security personnel? Does anybody have any experience with this? Thanks.

    No, they wont.

Bilateral knees sure do!!! The ID card the surgeon gave me is completely ignored. If you think about it probably should be. Thorough scanning is only a minor inconvenience.

It certainly won’t set off security alarm as the metal is Titanium.

Orthopaedic implants are made of Titanium or Steel Alloy called Cobalt-Chorme-Molybdenum Alloy. If made of non-Titanium, then certainly the alarms would go off.
