I am an Implant Treatment Coordinator for an oral surgeon’s office. We recently saw a patient for a consultation for implants who has had a kidney transplant, both hips replaced and is on a long list of medications. I need to research placing dental implants in organ transplant patients but I can’t seem to find very much information on the topic. Where can I find studies, if there are any? Also is there anyone with experience in that area that can enlighten me . Is the antibiotic prophylaxis protocol for organ transplant different from the antibiotic prophylaxis protocol for joint replacement?

You should first and foremost consult with the patients physicians.
While I have never placed an implant in a patient on meds for an organ transplant, I have placed implants in significantly medically compromised patients, including AIDs patients on meds, pts taking biphosphonates with additional medical issues, pts with auto immune diseases etc. I have experienced few problems with these patients. My belief is to ask for advice from the patients physician, talk to the patient about the perceived risks (actual risks not completely known)and with the patients and physicians consent do the procedure if it will benefit the patient
I firmly believe with my 22 yrs experience in implants that in such case one must consult patient’s treating doctor.
I would consult a physician immediatly if it were me.
