Serious overbite: Could implants work?
Last Updated: Oct 21, 2013
Between the ages of 8-16 I had my bite corrected with orthodontics. Due to the size of my top front teeth, I have a significant overbite despite the fact that my back teeth now line up properly. My teeth are very soft and my enamel is thin, meaning that reducing the size of my front teeth with veneers would be extremely painful, and a significant overbite would still remain. Between the thin enamel and getting too much flouride as a kid, my teeth have a marbled look to them.
My most recent dentist said the only solution would be major surgery to my maxilla, and that it would not be worth the trauma, considering my problems are mostly cosmetic.
My question is this: With recent advances in implant dentistry, could it be possible to remove all of my upper front teeth and replace them with appropriately sized teeth that would create a normal bite? I would love to have a beautiful smile, and I would love to be able to order lettuce on my hamburgers…
