What Does it Mean that Cost for Dental Implants is Per Arch?

My dentist says my cost for dental implants is “per arch”. What does he mean? I need implants on both the top and bottom of my mouth. Thanks.

When patients require a full arch reconstruction as you have described needing all of the teeth replaced in the upper or lower jaws, it is not uncommon to quote a fee for the whole case, or a “per arch” fee. This means that the cost will cover whatever methods the dentist will use to restore that arch. This avoids trying to figure out or document each and every charge for each and every visit. The dentist should however give you a written description of what is included in the “per arch” fee, such as “five to six implants in the upper jaw, with bone grafting as required to support a fixed-type restoration which will have teeth and acrylic or pink porcelain to replace the missing teeth.”I hope that this helps. Please discuss this further with your dentist, and do not be afraid to ask questions!

This didn't answer the question. You explained why they would charge per arch. You didn't explain what an arch is. How many arches are in our mouth? If I'm paying x amount per arch & I need all arches, I need to know how many that is. 5 teeth, 10 teeth?

The top part of the mouth is one arch and bottom another arch. You have two arches in your mouth.

Thank for that information, can I presume that mean the back of mouth on both side?

An arch is all of the top teeth or all of the bottom teeth. If you are having a procedure like 'all on 4' the 'arch' may be all of the teeth on the top or bottom. Or, the procedures may simply be everything that is needed on the top is one arch and everything that is needed on the bottom is the other arch.

Medicare approved you for denture’s how I thought they didn’t pay for denture’s!!?? I went to aspen dental and they made 2 set’s of denture’s for me and they were both wrong so I’ve been without bottom teeth for 2 year’s because I can’t afford them I do have top denture’s that are loose fitting that I can put in but my mouth has changed a lot without bottom teeth it’s very frustrating ‼️‼️
