Does anyone know the best way to remove abutment
screws that have broken off of the dental implant?
I wanted to know if there was
a specific technique or perhaps a tool to remove these so a new screw can be
reinserted? Thank you for any help.

use your ultrasonic scaler with a very thin scaler tip ,moving your scaler tip anti clockwise.in adittion use a fine explorer.take your time do not rush and good luck!
use slowspeed,anticlockwise with the smallest burr,dont apply too much pressure,it works,take your time.
Make a slot and unscrew with a flat blade screwdriver.
contact the manufacturer of the implant. They should have some kind of screw removal system.
have found in addition to the above methods, try a #2 round bur in a slow speed turning in the normal direction (clockwise) and try to just touch it to the outer edge of the screw and it will back the screw out, if any of the hex is present buy some liquid screw out, it is a gritty paste sold it hardware stores that increases friction of the driver tools, IE, hex tool or screw driver
use an old CA and bond a very thin FG flame bur (like Touati’s bur) with superglue in the old head -you have made a screw implant remover- and make counterclockwise motion with gentle pushes on the broken screw with the tip of the bur – be patient and you’ll get
idea given to me by Dr Marc Bert ,DDS expert at solving complications( wrote a comprehensive book -in french… – about these issues)
I suggest to use the broken screw removal kit from Rhein 83. You can find them on the internet.
I had an implant inserted into my upper jaw about years ago. No problems until I had my teeth straighted. The tooth broke off the screw. Mean while my dentist needs to replace the tooth; however, the screw will not come out of the implant. He was able to get the abutment (the cylinder that goes inside the titanium tube) out. My poor dentist worked on me for five hours trying to get that screw out to no avail.
He says I have two options: one, remove the entire implant and begin again (1 to 1 1/2 years) or a two-part partial bridge.
Is there no hope to get that screw out? Will leaving that empty implant harm me later if my decision is to continue with the bridge (which looks pretty good at the moment)?
One of my screws broke inside the implant, prosthodontist manage to take it out, it took 4 hours, and he tried to make a new thread, but now the screw goes in only half way, any idea why, once the thread has been made, can the dr. make another one inside? somehow the thread lets the screw to go up only half way. Dr. wants to cut the screw in half and if it fits, continue to make a new set of dentures for it. I don’t think it will be stable enough, & it will be a waste of $$ and time. Do I have any other way to save the implant?
