Chronic Polypoid Sinusitis: Can I Do a Sinus Lift?

Last Updated: Mar 15, 2010

Dr. LG asks:
I have a patient who requires a sinus lift and implants in the maxillary alveolar ridge. One complication is that the patient has chronic polypoid sinusitis and requires surgery to correct this problem. How long should I wait after the surgery to do the sinus lift? What kinds of complications should I watch out for? Are there any contra-indications to doing a sinus lift after this corrective surgery? Is there any way to do the sinus lift at the time of corrective surgery?

Check in the literature for the work published by Dr. Michael Pikos on this subject. With his technique it is possible to do the corrective surgery and the sinus lift in a single procedure. Good luck
