Hyperfill DC: Does it Help to Get the Composite to Cure Completely?

Last Updated: Jan 12, 2009

Dr. G. asks:
I do a lot of Class II composites in my amalgam free practice. One problem I have had is with cases where the proximal box is very deep and I am concerned about getting the composite to cure completely in the deeper part of the proximal box. I have started using HyperFil DC (Parkell). According to Parkell, all I need is to have my assistant apply the curing light for 10 seconds to get an initial set. Then the dual cure or self cure chemistry will kick in and finish the curing. This certainly sound like it makes sense. What are your thoughts?

This will certainly work as it will work with their build up material which is called Absolute Dentin. Be sure to use a bonding agent that is compatible with dual cure composites. Some are not. Parkell Brush and Bond works well and will work for any other type of composite you decide to layer above the Hyperfil. Good luck!
