Implant placement in maxillary left first and second molars?

Last Updated: Feb 05, 2016

I have treatment planned a patient for installation of implants in #14 and 15 sites [maxillary left first and second molars]. Will I be able to accomplish this by using an onlay bone graft alone? Or do you think I will have to do a sinus lift as well, in addition to the graft?

Yes sinus lift as well , easy case for a lateral window and use a particulate to augment the surface dip . Then place 7 into the tuberosity bone which looks good .. Peter

How can you treatment plan from a single PA?

I think the x ray does not give enough information neither about sinus relation nor cross section of the bone so it will be much better if you ask for a CT before doing any thing.

CT scans are not needed in most of the cases that we do. If the bone can be palpated or measured with a caliper the width can be determined. Then a pano and PA x-rays are OK.

Yes , never had them when we started and over use them now .... that is life most cases only real value is medico-legal ....... CBCT use and regulatory aspects vary from country to country and in the UK it is regulated to ensure to patients do not have excessive exposure and that it is critical that there is real need for their use . In the US often CBCT is just used to monitor cases so different regulations .. Great tool but care is also needed. Peter

I think yo need cone beam computed tomography to evaluate sinus and alveolar ridge. this radiography show that patient need open sinus elevation and then implant after 6-9 month later (stage method).
