Membrane Exposure after GBR: Recommendation?

I inserted an implant in the maxillary posterior region, grafted the site and covered the site with Pericol membrane (Note: Type I collagen membrane. Details). The membrane became exposed on the third day post-operatively. On fourth day after surgery the membrane became more exposed and developed edema. The patient is diabetic so I did not prescribe steroids to reduce the inflammation. What do you recommend that I do at this point?

Was this surgery done with local? How long did it take? This is post op edema, I would remove the sutures at one week post op and keep it clean. The membrane may resorb quicker or fall out. X-ray would be helpful. Pretty big flap for a single implant.

Three hours of surgery with no IV steroids will give that type of post op swelling. It peaks around the third day, if excessive I give IM depomedrol. In this case just keep it clean, the membrane may resorb faster.

Provide therapy anti-inflamatory for 6days , if no pain , just wash with chlorexidine at each appoiment to avoid infection , not try to clóse again because it is sacerdote to do moré damage , let second attempt at closure ,anda un the second phase we will Fix any lack if tissue if is necessary

This will happen often if you do not make a releasing incision so as to make the flap tension free---It must be tension free for this large of a flap to remain together after suturing.
