Mirroring with CBCT: Fix it?

Last Updated: Aug 01, 2019

I’ve been trying to treatment plan for a surgical guide case with Full Contour. They say the CBCT we sent keeps opening upside down (mirroring) on 3Shape Design Software. We took a new CBCT and the same problem. I don’t know what could be the problem. Has anyone had the same issue and how to fix it?

Thanks

Highly unlikely the fault is with the dicom. They are more likely to have designated either the dicom or the stl incorrectly

It's the software they use, not you. Some CBCT software display scans in a top down view ie axial slices count in cranio-caudal direction whereas others display in caudal-cranio direction. Most likely their software accepts only one, not both positions. No point re-scanning patient if it already displays correctly on your system; unnecessary radiation dose. You could send your case to another lab.

We fixed it. We called Kavo Customer service and they explained a different way of exporting the file. It worked.
