Do you mix any antibiotic with your graft material when treating peri-implantitis?

For guided bone regeneration to treat bone loss in peri-implantitis, is it advisable to mix an antibiotic with the graft material? If so, which antibiotic do you recommend and the amount? What is the rationale for your protocol? Would you also prescribe a systemic antibiotic?

usually I clean the implant surface with a Metronidazole putty. I mix Bio Oss with it for the defect grafting

I agree with Pascal Valentini. The site and implant surface are mostly contaminated by anaerobe bacteria. Then, the best procedure is to mix the bone substitute with pure metronidazole powder after a cleaning procedure with it.

What dosage (per 1 cc of graft material) would you recommend for the metronidazole?

50-100 mg in total is largely enough...

Dear Dr. Antibiotics are preferably used systematically besides local use of ab may cause allergic reactions and very few ab are locally active so if ı were you ıwould not mix ab with the graft material .Good luck
