Options for Supporting Molar Crowns: One Implant vs. Two?
Last Updated: Dec 19, 2011
Dr. T. asks:
There are a number of different philosophies concerning treatment planning options for supporting molar crowns. Most schools of thought recommend one wide platform implant to support a single molar crown. There are however other approaches that recommend two narrow platform or two regular platform implants to support a single molar crown. Are any of these two latter plans considered malpractice in some venues – two implants for one molar crown? What about one or more mini-implant [narrow diameter implant] for supporting a molar crown?
