Can an implant be placed next to a tooth that has a root canal, post buildup and crown?
Last Updated: Jan 22, 2014
My two front teeth were fractured in an accident and both have had a root canal, post core build up, and crowns. One of the crowns came loose and my dentist said the tooth is too broken to build up again and is recommending a dental implant. Can one have an implant next to a root canal? This particular tooth has had 4 crowns, a replacement about every 5 years. An oral surgeon would be extracting and placing the implant the same day, then flipper and abutment and crown in 4-6months. Does anyone have an opinion as to if this kind of treatment can work? BTW I am 53 year old female. Some pockets in back teeth but normal in front and am told bone ok in front.
