Plastic impression copings for 2.4 Zest implants: any suggestions?
Last Updated: Sep 25, 2013
I have a 70 year old edentulous female patient with a very atrophic maxilla. A CBVT scan verified that she has a severely resorbed maxilla with no site appropriate for root form implants. The patient really wanted to try something to increase the retention of her complete denture and to uncover her palate. I installed four 2.4mm Zest Locator implants in the anterior maxilla in April 2013 and did not load them. I intended to incorporate the 4 individual implants into her existing maxillary complete denture to convert it to an overdenture. I checked them postoperatively in July 2013 and two of the 4 implants had not integrated and were loose. I removed the two loose implants and replaced them with two more 2.4mm Locator implants. I have just uncovered all the implants and they are not parallel and the lab that I use says it will be difficult to have a successful outcome with the divergence of the Locators and they recommend a bar overdenture. I cannot find a company that makes an all plastic impression copings for a 2.4mm Zest implant so as not to use the Locator attachment and screw directly onto the implant. Any suggestions?
