Sinus Lift with Lateral Window Approach: Best Way to Treat Tear in Membrane?
Last Updated: Dec 26, 2011
Dr. A asks:
I have treatment planned some sinus lift procedures using a lateral window approach. I want to be prepared if there are any complications. If I tear a hole in the membrane, what is the best way to treat this? Should I attempt to replace the hole in the membrane with a resorbable collagen membrane and deliver a bone graft to support the membrane? Or should I just deliver a bone graft to the area under where the membrane is torn? What recommendations do you have for managing this kind of a complication?
