Who is the manufacturer of this implant in area #26?

Last Updated: Mar 22, 2015

This patient presented to my office with no knowledge of who placed this implant in area of #26 about 3 years ago. Looks like a 3.0, so trying to determine what implant it is. I place Nobel and Astra, and it looks like neither of these. Can anyone can give me their input? Thanks!

Hello! Have you already tried the website: www.whatimplantisthat.com ? You can submit your x-ray and the website tries to identify the implante by its shape. I think this is a good way to figure it out.

Thanks for the Suggestion Arthur. The more I look at the radiograph more I feel like it is a NobelReplace Tapered Groovy NP [ 3.5 x 13 mm ]. I just want to make sure that when I uncover it I have the right healing abutment. Still if anyone thinks it could be anything else let me know. Thanks!

Hi a very good guess, is that the implant is from an Israeli company called MSI-IMPLANTS Price around 40$ I have used them for the last 3 years. Best Regards Anders

Some concern is due to the purported lack of knowledge in such a recent case. Some come to me like this who, I later discover, did not pay, or had some odd behavior at the previous office. It's pretty hard to believe it when a patient cannot even tell you what part of town the office was in, etc.. However, it is possible in the elderly to lack recall.

Healthy skepticism.

I completely agree that this raised a red flag. It would be like having a knee replacement and not remembering who your surgeon was! As, long as he is able to pay for treatment then the patient deserves a chance to have this tooth restored. Also, I am uncovering this for my partner. I am just trying to help out.

This is the most repeated question in this job .......... for years every patient we have seen gets a print out of the Implant details for their own safe keeping ..... Then they always know

Good Morning... The fixture does resemble a Nobel 3.5 NP. Either Straumann, Zimmer or 3I has an implant ID program and may be able to confirm this for you. By the way the healing abutment IS already on the fixture. If you remove it you should be able to see that internal attachment which may tell you quickly what the fixture is. Good Luck!
