Crowns on Implants Look Smaller than my Regular Teeth: Options?

I just got my crowns placed on my implants and they look really small comparing with the other side of the mouth. I mean, the height is lower and also the length is shorter. I called the dental office the following day, but they replied that they are smaller in order to avoid stress on the area and also to prevent the screw from breaking. I really do not like such a small crowns, but they are already cemented, so if I go back to the doctor do I have any options? I am truly depressed about this issue, because it is so costly and also took so long. I was expecting to be really happy after it was finished. Unfortunately it is not the case. Could you give some ideas, please? Thank you very much!!!

Implant crowns are typically smaller than natural teeth. This is especially the case with posterior teeth due to the fact the function and longevity take precedence over esthetics. The posterior teeth do more grinding while chewing food and therefore the smaller implant crown decreases the amount of side to side (lateral) force on the tooth. This lateral force is often times responsible for loosening the implant screw that helps hold the tooth on. A smaller tooth is a trade-off for fewer problems in the future.

I have the same problem. Do you think it is the responsibility of the dentist to inform the patient during the initial consult that the crown will not look like the tooth it is replacing but a third or so smaller? And what about wire reinforcing the porcelain to allow a larger crown? The dentist who did my implant recently consulted on my wife who has 2 missing teeth and stated an implant can be fitted with a bridge, which I suppose means a large cantilever.

I think it's unfair that the Implant doctors don't tell you this ahead of time.

I just recently had implants done. I had several teeth missing in the upper back on both sides. The missing teeth were beginning to show in my smile line when I smile and chewing some foods was an issue. So I thought getting the back teeth fixed with mini implants on both sides would solve this problem I'd have better chewing capabilities and the missing teeth in my smile line would be filled in. Well on the day my teeth were cemented in I was not given a mirror by the office to check them out. I wasn't too worried because I had 100% confidence in the Doctor that was doing my work. He is well known for being the best in the area. I had saved up years for this and it was THOUSANDS of dollars. Thirteen thousand to be exact. When I got home I looked in the mirror and I was floored. I was so disappointed!! Beyond Disappointed. I cried the rest of the DAY and part of the next DAY!! (This was suppose to be a HAPPY occasion. ) The teeth that were added were so short, they looked like half of a tooth!! The tooth in my smile now is 1 tooth that looks like 1/2 of a tooth in comparison to the one near it on the left and on the right the missing tooth in my smile is still missing. Those teeth are so short you can't even see them, so it still looks like I am still missing a tooth. I am still trying to comprehend this. I wish I had known this could or would happen. I don't think I would have had it done. I am finding this has happened to a lot of people. I hope by sharing my story it helps someone. Make your doctor explain this to you so you won't be floored like I was and out of Thirteen thousand dollars !!!!!! and a mouth full of short teeth!!!!!!!! I too am depressed and feel totally defeated!!!
