Is a persistent metallic taste in mouth after an implant something to worry about?

Last Updated: Nov 25, 2014

I had a front tooth implant in late 2011. Lately I have noticed persistent metallic taste in my mouth, and I think it is coming from my front tooth. Is this something to be concerned about? could it be a symptom of an infection or problem? Many thanks!

It is unlikely that the metalic taste comes from the implant. You do not specify if the implant was placed but has not been restored, or if the implant has been restored with a crown. Without looking at your mouth is is impossible to help you figure out your problem. Tell your dentist and have him or her examine you to try to determine what it going on. Good luck!
